I just did a search on Amazon for retirement books published in 2007. I scrolled through about 100 of them which were sorted by relevance before they weren’t all that relevant anymore. That’s nearly 100 books on retirement published in 2007 alone!
I have a few retirement books on my own bookshelf that I’ve found useful and I continue to buy more. At the rate they’re being written, though, and my hunger to read them, I think I’m going to need to get myself a Kindle soon. Just not enough room on my bookshelf for all those books, never mind the cost of all of them. And while I’m enjoying more travel once I retire, it’s a win-win for me.
The point is, as we boomers hit retirement age, the concept of retiring is changing. We are creating it as we go. It’s exciting to think about all the possibilities awaiting us, or available to us right now. Additionally, I enjoy reading books that give me ideas about finances that I hadn’t thought about before.
In future posts, I’ll spend time writing about specific books and how I’m applying what I’m reading to my own situation. I hope that when you read what I write your creative mind will awaken and push out any fear about leaving your job, being bored, not having enough money or fill-in-the-blank.
